Subsidiary Business Names

Registration of Business Names Act, 1962 (Act 151)

A Company may carry on business under a Subsidiary Business Name which does not consist of its corporate name. This is called a Subsidiary Business Name of the parent company with the parent company being the owner. A stamp of the parent company is required and should be signed by one of its existing directors or secretary.

Procedure for registration:

  • A search for availability of the name must be conducted
  • Applicant may pick up a prescribed Form C from the in-house bank or download
  • Submit completed and signed Form C at the Business Names Registration Counter for Verification and Capturing or submit Online
  • Pay a processing fee of GHS 100 at the in-house bank or Online on the ghana.gov.gh platform
  • VIP service cost of GHs 400 in addition to the processing fees (optional)
  • Registrar Examines, Approves and Issues: Certificate of Registration, Certified True Copy (CTC) of Form C
  • Mandatory renewal of registered Name for each year at a fee of GHS 60 ( or pay by using USSD *222#)
