Chinese Ambassador Pays Courtesy Call On Registrar Of Companies.

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, H.E. Tong Defa, on Wednesday, 18th June, 2025 paid a courtesy call on the Acting Registrar of Companies, Mrs. Maame Samma Peprah, at the Head Office of the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) in Accra.

The visit formed part of the Ambassador’s engagements with key State Institutions aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and fostering greater cooperation between Ghana and China, particularly in the areas of business registration, investment, and corporate governance.

Welcoming the Ambassador and his entourage, Mrs. Peprah expressed her appreciation for the visit and underscored the pivotal role the ORC plays in facilitating business registration, ensuring corporate compliance, and regulating company operations in Ghana.

She emphasized the Office’s ongoing commitment in improving the ease of doing business and enhancing transparency and investor confidence through digital transformation and regulatory compliance.

Mrs. Peprah indicated that, the office aligns its operations with the broader framework of Ghana’s foreign policy and remain committed to create a business-friendly environment for both local and foreign investors through transparency, accountability, and innovation.

She also seized the opportunity to urge the Ambassador to take advantage of the Government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, which aims to stimulate productivity, create jobs, and promote continuous economic activity across key sectors.

H.E. Tong Defa commended the ORC for its professionalism and vital role in promoting a structured and transparent business environment.

He noted that Chinese businesses in Ghana are increasingly becoming key contributors to economic growth and job creation.

He expressed China’s interest in deepening institutional cooperation to ensure that Chinese enterprises registered in Ghana receive the necessary guidance and support to operate responsibly and in compliance with Ghanaian laws.

Also present at the meeting were senior officials from the Chinese Embassy in Ghana and members of the ORC’s management team, including the Deputy Registrar of Companies, Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu and Dr. Dennis Botwe Kyei, Head of Administration.
