The Registrar of Companies, Maame Samma Peprah., paid a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, on Monday, November 10, 2025.
The visit was part of a regional business registration and sensitization exercise by the Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) in Ho, which runs from November 10-13, 2025 at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council – VRCC in Ho.
During the visit, the Registrar explained that the exercise is a nationwide initiative to create awareness of the ORC’s services, encourage the formalization of businesses and make business registration accessible to all, especially in regions without an established ORC office.
Mrs. Peprah noted that while the ORC currently operates through five regional offices, the team is extending its outreach to regions without established zonal offices to assess public response and guide decisions on setting up new offices.

She expressed optimism that the Volta Region will have its own ORC office by next year and was delighted with the strong turnout on the first day, as many people came forward to formalize their businesses.
Hon. James Gunu welcomed the initiative, emphasized that the decentralization of such essential services aligns with the government’s development agenda and the “Volta Economic Corridor” plan under the President’s 24-Hour Economic Policy.
He noted that having a local ORC office would ensure businesses receive legal backing quickly, prevent delays, and enhance revenue generation and job creation in the region.
Hon. Gunu reaffirmed the Volta Regional Coordinating Council’s readiness to support the ORC’s activities and future plans in the region.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration going forward and promote and support the growth of the formal business sector in the Volta Region.
Mrs. Peprah was accompanied by the Head, Administration Dr, Dennis Kyei Botwe, Head, Registration & Licensing, Mrs. Yayra Adjoa Banini, Deputy Director, Corporate Affairs & Communication, Mrs. Josephine Sitsofe Tsekpo and officers of the Corporate Affairs & Communication directorate.
